About Us

The Great Slave Yacht Club is a non-profit organization registered under the Societies Act of the Northwest Territories and operates out of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada (approximately Lat N 62° Long W 114°) on the shores of Great Slave Lake.

The Club provides docking facilities for sixty vessels ranging in size up to 50 feet.  Facilities include a clubhouse, fuel dock and parking for members.  The clubhouse is used for social functions, training courses in boater safety, navigation and first aid, and is available for members to host private personal meetings or other group gatherings as approved by the Board.

The Great Slave Yacht Club was incorporated in 1984 by a small group of boaters determined to acquire docking facilities for their vessels. In 1990, the club moved from its original location to its current location on Back Bay.

The mandate of the Great Slave Yacht Club is:

  1. Encourage safe boating and water sports on Great Slave Lake, including training and marine operation.
  2. Provide docking and other services and facilities related to boating, and social events to its members
  3. Preserve marine history on Great Slave Lake.
